Henry Wachowski was 28 years old in 1946 when he joined the Saginaw Police Department. He was given badge No. 100, and wore it every day to work for more than 30 years. His badge number was just a number at the time. However, he grew attached to his badge during his years of service, eventually thinking of it as a good luck charm of sorts. On Tuesday, Wachowski got to dust off his lucky No. 100 as he and his family and friends celebrated his 100th birthday. We sat down with Mr. Wachowski as he reminisced on three decades of police work and 10 decades of life. "There's no formula for a long life," he said to us. "I guess you're just born with it."
