Krista Soderlund "Modeling the Physical Oceanography of Ice-Covered Moons"
| Dr. Krista Soderlund from the University of Texas at Austin's Institute for Geophysics is a planetary scientist who focuses on planetary interiors and fluid dynamics, with particular interests in ocean worlds and magnetic fields across our solar system. In addition to using direct numerical simulations and terrestrial analogs, she is also co-investigator of the ice-penetrating radar instrument REASON on NASA’s Europa Clipper mission. Dr. Soderlund will review different potential mechanisms that have been proposed to drive oceanic circulations in the Jovian and Saturnian satellites, summarize recent advances in the literature, and highlight outstanding questions. | |
Dimitris Menemenlis “Introduction to Climate Models: Ocean and Sea Ice”
Dr. Dimitris Menemenlis is a Research Scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena. His research interests includes global ocean circulation and its interaction with sea ice, land ice, atmosphere, coastal processes, and biogeochemical cycles. Full Bio
