Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (if you're a girl) Brussels screening! On October 14th, The Skateroom is organizing a Brussels screening of the Oscar winning short documentary, Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (if you’re a girl) by Carol Dysinger. The short documentary follows the progress of a group of girls at Skateistan in Kabul. Filmed over the course of a year, Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone follows the girls as they progress both in the classroom and the skatepark. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with members of Skateistan and special guests. Check out the event and purchase tickets here! Coping with Covid: Bringing Skateistan lessons to out-of-school children In Afghanistan, many families relocate to get to safer parts of the country, such as Mazar-e-Sharif, which has a large Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp on its outskirts. Many children in the camp are out of school and attend our Back-to-School program to give them a second chance at education. During the lockdown, their education was once again disrupted, but Skateistan educators found a way to keep their classes going. Looking to get more involved?
