Nov. 3, 2020 Minnesota voters streamed to the polls in big numbers Tuesday with lots of anticipation but no widespread problems as Election Day gave way to election night.
Polls in Minnesota are open until 8 p.m. (As long as voters are in line by 8 p.m., they will be able to vote.) So far, there haven’t been any reports of widespread problems. Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon said it’s been a “superb day.” Secretary of State Steve Simon says voter interest is very high, and may be approaching enough to challenge the state’s turnout record of 83 percent in 1956. Minnesota’s COVID-19 numbers continue to paint a daunting picture of a rapidly worsening pandemic. The Health Department on Tuesday reported 3,483 newly confirmed or probable cases of the disease — a new one-day record, breaking the prior record set a few days ago. Caseloads have skyrocketed over the past month.
