The weekend's almost here, friends. We've got a full menu of news, features and sports today at the Lunch Line Cafe, so let's dig in. Black and Gold buzz: The Saints have opened the season with two very convincing wins, and columnist Jeff Duncan writes that he sees evidence of “Who Dat fever” sweeping the city. The Eagles come to town Sunday for a big game. Speaking of our fave football team, did you hear about the message FEMA sent out after the Saints-Cowboys game? Oh, brother! TLC in the CBD: One of the oldest buildings in the CBD will be getting some TLC. The Bank of Louisiana building has new owners, and business writer Stephanie Riegel chatted with them about their plans. Shaping lives through baseball: Rod Walker tells us about one of the greatest high school baseball coaches Louisiana has ever produced. Here’s the catch: Leroy Franklin did his coaching in Chicago. Check out Rod’s story to learn more about the man who became a father figure to a legion of young people. Another push: Another group of elected officials are pushing the state to speed the reopening of a stretch of Highway 90 linking Louisiana and Mississippi. The St. Tammany Parish Council says the route is vital for evacuations; the highway department says it’ll cost hundreds of millions to replace a series of old bridges.
