Tradition of Home Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in association with Shannon Airport is the greatest showcase for Irish Traditional Arts on Earth. For one week every August the very best of traditional talent from all over Ireland and the world comes together to meet, to compete, but, most importantly, to celebrate all that is best in Irish music song and dance. For many, it is the culmination of months of hard work and practice as they compete against fellow musicians, singers and dancers to achieve the recognition of being an All-Ireland champion. For others it is a unique and welcoming festival of the best of traditional arts that offers a wide range of activities to be enjoyed by all. For Ennis, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Inis 2016 signals a joyful invasion of the County Clare capital by musicians and listeners alike, young and old, families and tourists, all drawn by the magic that the Fleadh promises and always delivers. The Fleadh also offers many challenges for Ennis and surrounding communities as they work to accommodate up to 400,000 visitors and organise 400 competitions and events. From the 14th to the 22nd of August the town will vibrate to the sound of 9,000 session musicians and 6,000 competitors. Ennis itself is no stranger to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. The town has twice before been home to the event but all involved hope to make 2016 the best yet. For more visit fleadhcheoil.ie |
