Her new memoir, The Nutcracker Chronicles, intertwines the familiar story of Clara and her prince with Janine’s own story of coming of age in dance—and eventually stepping away from the spotlight and embracing new roles of her own. Like all fairytales, Janine’s story has moments of darkness but a happy ending—whether you’re an aspiring memoirist, a recovering dancer, or a balletomane, you’ll find something to appreciate in its pages.
