| The fine was issued after the worker was killed by the end of a security barrier while driving out of the firmâs site. HSE's investigation found the manufacturing company had installed the barrier a month earlier and failed to: carry out a suitable and sufficient risk assessment implement a safe system of work to ensure the barrier could be secured safely when open and closed For further details read this press release.  Our website has advice on horizontal swing car park barriers.  Other recent prosecution cases include: Yacht maker fined £600,000 after worker suffered life-changing injuries Two companies fined after worker suffers fatal fall from roof HSE is one of the UK's market surveillance authorities, which monitor and enforce legal requirements on the safety of most products used in the workplace, including any risks to health. HSE has a duty to notify the Secretary of State about unsafe or non-compliant products and of the measures taken and communicated by an economic operator.â¯Â  Products that present a serious or high risk to the health and safety of the user, and products that have been recalled, are published on GOV.UK.â¯Â  Recent examples of products notified are: Clean and Easy Paraffin Wax Heater  Winsun Particle Filter KN95 Half Mask YS003 If you were unable to join HSEâs 2023 Health and Work Conference last month, the recordings from each of the 4 workshops are now available to watch for free.
