And how to not get catfished, what if Trump's declassified documents are irrelevant and the Lakers set their sights on Donovan Mitchell. š
Good morning, Utah Today readers! Hereās todayās forecast: āļø 51 ā 93Ā° in Logan āļø 69 ā 99Ā° in Salt Lake City āļø 73 ā 104Ā° in St. George Everyone has a very small, petty point of view that they canāt be talked out of that others find divisive and controversial. For me, one such perspective is that dogs are just superior pets. Cats can be cute, but I have never met a cat that doesnāt have at least a little bit of an attitude. Donāt try to talk me out of it ā Iāve made up my mind. Tell me: What is the smallest, pettiest molehill of an argument that you will die defending? If I get enough responses, I might use them in a future email. Also on our minds: How to not get catfished, what if Trumpās declassified documents are irrelevant, Tom Holmoe appears on CNN and the Lakers have their sights set on Donovan Mitchell. š |

| | Renters might be feeling a little whiplash right now. The housing market is finally slowing to a simmer, but rental prices are still rising (albeit slowly). To put things in perspective, Salt Lake City is the 54th most expensive city in the country according to Zumper, with a one-bedroom unit costing an average of $1,280. Thatās up almost 20%. | A BYU vs. Duke volleyball game sent shockwaves over the weekend after Duke player Rachel Richardson talked about her experience on Twitter of being heckled and having racial slurs and threats yelled at her during a match. Richardson wrote that she and her fellow Black teammates began to feel unsafe and that BYUās staff was aware and did not intervene. Several Utah lawmakers and high-profile members of the community reacted to the event on social media. Hereās what a few of them said: āThis appalling incident should be a reminder of why discussions of diversity and inclusion are so critical, and why our state must continue to make strides toward becoming a more accepting and inclusive place generally for everyone.ā ā Rep. Sandra Hollins āIām angry at the racist who spewed this inappropriate language, as well as at the others present who didnāt immediately call him out and shut it down. We must be better.ā ā Sen. Todd Weiler āIt is extremely sad when this type of behavior continues to happen. Itās up to every to speak up against it or it will continue to happen.ā ā Jeanetta Williams, president of the NAACP Salt Lake Chapter Read all the reactions here.
