Has any year been so happily discarded as 2020? It was a year punctuated often by uncertainty and heartache, confusion and loss. In a year when so much was unlike anything that has come before, there were moments—no matter how brief—that were undeniably different, but seemingly for the better.
For example, if social media feeds full of pictures of banana bread and newly planted vegetable gardens were any indication, lots of people took up low-tech hobbies that may very well become their new normal. Here at the Almanac, we were helping people get back to basics long before the idea of a "pandemic project" arose.
