Merger with new national cluster creates new opportunities for DOLL's partners
2020 has been a year of expansion at DOLL Living Lab, with new partners, new installations and added dimensions such as the launch of Denmark's first living lab for intelligent traffic signal systems and Europe's largest case-collection of new dynamic lighting solutions. The year ends with the merger of DOLL and the brand new Danish Business Cluster for Buildings and Construction from early next year - still with Gate 21 as a key partner. This will further strengthen our national network and the ability for our partners to scale-up their tested solutions - as well as making Smart City technologies a key driver in the green transition.
Denmark's first national living lab for intelligent traffic signal systems
Denmark's first living lab for state-of-the-art intelligent traffic signal systems gives ITS suppliers the opportunity to present new and innovative solutions, as well as demonstrating solutions across suppliers, technologies and protocols. It's a unique showroom and a first of its kind in Denmark. Traditionally, the development has been with the signal providers, as part of specific projects in different parts of the country. The overall knowledge of the latest solutions, their advantages / disadvantages and the financial and construction framework, has therefore been spread across the industry. Local road authorities have found it difficult to get a coherent overview of which solutions were best suited to solve their specific problems. With this initiative, by the Capital Region and DOLL, a framework is created for a national test center for traffic signals, so that the common knowledge about traffic signals and ITS can be shared and disseminated across consultants, suppliers, developers and authorities.
Europe's largest testcentre for dynamic lighting
The combined revolutions of Zhaga sockets, tunable white and dim-to-warm technologies have enabled today's cutting edge dynamic lighting solutions - currently being rolled out at DOLL's living lab. When completed, the collaboration with the Baltic Sea region project, LUCIA, will have resulted in a dozen different installations, all demonstrating sensor-baed CMS for dynamic lighting solutions. DOLL have with the LUCIA project now a wider range of solutions within motion detection. This includes InfraRed, Radar, video base, floating car data options. The SR sockets makes it possible to mount different sensor within minutes and update the system without a screwdriver. The fixtures in the project are both high end LED, Turnable white and dim to warm fixture.
Welcome to our new partners
A warm welcome to our latest partners, who bring exciting new products, solutions and cutting edge knowledge to our living lab and wider network. They are: Avanti | US company demonstrating solution for identifying cyclists by creating unique 'digital prints' for each cyclist COWI | Danish company and a knowledge partner at DOLL Konica Minolta Denmark | Demonstrating how video-detection can be used for identiyfing urban activities. Lacroix | French company specialising in xx demonstrating xx Sekuraxis | Swiss-based company that demonstrates the audio-detection of urban activities, including animal sound, and informs local lighting fixtures and traffic signal systems. SmartLampPost | A joint venture between three European companies, demonstrating their smart lamp post together with Danntra in a strategic partnership Telia | Scandinavian mobile operrator demonstrating how data analyses of activity in mobile across multiple cell areas can provide crowd insights.
DOLL joins the new Danish Cluster for Buildings and Construction
The new Danish Cluster for Buildings and Construction is the result of a merger of a number of existing organizations and networks within Smart City, construction and civil engineering in Denmark. The aim is to create one strong meeting place for everyone in the construction industry - both companies, knowledge institutions and the public sector - about the sustainable and digital technologies of the future, smart cities and local areas, innovation, business development, productivity, growth and internationalization. "The merger with the national Buildings and Construction Cluster is the natural evolution of DOLL Living Lab, and will pave the way for a new and exciting era for our partners and visiting delegations. Things will accelerate fast from here, and it's never been a better time to join DOLL right now," says Kim Brostrøm, CTO and one of the key people in the founding of DOLL back in 2014, who will retire at the end of 2020.
