DOLL visits from North, East & West
Britain may be about to leave the EU, but the government in charge has no plans to leave the European Smart City networks. The British minister Oliver Dowden, from the Cabinet Office, responsible for digitlization and Smart Cities, recently visited DOLL, to discuss the concept of urban living labs, and get inspired. "We’re really happy to have hosted the ministerial visit at DOLL by Mr. Oliver Dowden, and of his strong interest in the Danish approach to developing Smart Citiy solutions through our unique partnerships. We hope the visit will further strengthen our collaboration with Great Britain, for the benefit of companies in both countries,” commented Kim Brostrøm, CTO at DOLL Living Lab. Another delegation made the journey to DOLL from Longyearbyen, the world's northermost city, looking for energy saving solutions that can cope with lighting up the long winter months - without polluting the main tourist attraction, the Northern Lights. DOLL have also hosted a number of Asian delegations, from South Korea and Japan, and coming up over the next few weeks is a visit from China, but also delegations from the Netherlands and Israel, to name a few.
Smart City events & networking
In Denmark alone there are around 1.000.000 lighting points, of which only 20-30% are LED-based, and out of those fewer still carry sensors. The potential for applying energy saving measures are therefore great, DOLL recently held a seminar for public investors in lighting to present the case for intelligent solutions - read more here, DOLL also arranged this year's Danish delegation to the Nordic Edge Expo, in Stavanger, in partnership with Smart City Cluster.and Gate 21 - you can watch a selection of videos from the expo & conference here. A delegation from municipalities from across Greater Copenhagen will visit DOLL & Roskilde's innovative Musicon path on the 11th of November - registration is still open. A special DOLL-by-night event will be held on the 10th of December, as part of the Smart City Cluster Denmark conference - read more and register here.
Coming projects & upgrades
Together with the Capital Region we are developing a dynamic signalling project, part of a news trategic focus area A set test-route for our new autonomous buses (LINC) have been developed and approved We're also expecting to upgrade installations with new sensors, for air quality and noise
New installations bring new solutions to DOLL
A string of new partners joining DOLL earlier this year, as well as increased activity from exisitng partners, have resulted in a wide variety of new installations at DOLL. Here's a brief overview: Central Management Systems DOLL can now demonstrate a range of intelligent lighting systems. Citelum is demonstrating its platform MUSE Novalume introduces Lumintell, one of the few Danish CMS products Motion sensors There are several benefits of applying motion sensors to a system, from energy savings to city planning, combining traffic data with dynamic lighting, to name a few. Sitego and Tridonic both showcase solutions for detecting bicycles and pedestrians Smartnodes demonstrates how traffic monitoring can create statistics around each type of road user Smart poles At DOLL we also an increase in the number of smart poles, taking the blend of design and multi-functionality to a new level. Ligman, a Thai company, are currently shipping 6 of their smart poles to DOLL Schréder showcases Shuffle, which can combine up to 5 modules Smart City Solution still has their smart pole up Tunable white DOLL Living Lab is one of the first to demonstrate tunable white for outdoor lighting. A single diode LED with the capacity to dim from 100% down to 3%, with a colour temperature range from 2300-6400 Kelvin. Warmer colour temperatures llate at night have shown to be beneficial for both humans and the environment.. Tridonic / WE-EF demonstrate tunable white for urban outdoor use Zagha sockets We see an increase in installations with Zagha sockets; starting with communication units, and now also a variety of sensors.
